For those nippy desert nights when counting shooting stars is all you have to do, the semi-rectangular Western Mountaineering Alder MF is your bag of choice. Roomy enough for comfort and warm enough so you won’t wake with a chill before dawn, the Alder has a 62 inch shoulder girth and a 46 inch foot girth. The Alder has a zipper along the side to mate with mummy bags and a zipper around the foot so that it can be opened flat as a comforter or zipped to Western’s Summer Coupler (sold separately) to make a bed for two.
Like all of Western Mountaineering’s bags, this 25 degree sleeping bag is made by hand in San Jose, California. Their down is sourced from free-range mother geese who are never live-plucked or force-fed.
